Ammar Siamwalla, acting president of the Thailand Development Research Institute, said one setback from the economic crisis was the "risk aversion" attitude of Thai businesses.
He said the economic crisis had wiped out bright capitalists and businessmen who had been eager to venture into the industrial sector.
"Thai businessmen need to invest more in the industrial sectors to help the country improve its competitiveness," he said.
